The 12-hour course is divided into Theory and Practical. The theory is delivered in a classroom by an experienced instructor using presentation slides and MTO-required brake and air brake demonstrators. The driving instructor will then show the group how the air brake systems work and where each component is located. From there they will go over inspection and testing procedures, which the students will eventually perform themselves in a pre-trip check.
